Exploring portugal: family adventure from Aveiro to Alentejo: As a family of three , we're always eager to discover new corners of Portugal that blend adventure, relaxation, and natural beauty. This summer, our journey took us from the charming city of Aveiro to the serene landscapes of Alentejo, with a memorable stop in Peniche at an eco surf resort that redefined our idea of a perfect getaway.

Our adventure began in Aveiro, affectionately known as the "Venice of Portugal" for its picturesque canals and iconic moliceiros—the brightly colored boats that glide through the waterways. We spent a sun-soaked day exploring the city, captivated by its vibrant atmosphere and rich history. For lunch, we treated ourselves to a delicious plant-based meal at Musgo, a local favorite that impressed us with its fresh and creative dishes. Strolling through the sunlit streets and soaking in the beauty of Aveiro was the perfect way to kick off our holiday.

From Aveiro, we made our way to Peniche, a coastal town famous for its stunning beaches and world-class surfing spots. Here, we stayed at Bukubaki Ecoresort, an eco surf resort that offers a unique blend of nature, comfort, and sustainability. We chose to experience glamping in a tipi, which was an absolute delight for our little one. While we didn't stay in a treehouse, that option is available for those looking for a unique stay. The resort's focus on sustainable living, combined with its tranquil, forested setting, provided a peaceful escape that allowed us to reconnect with nature.

We loved spending time at the resort’s swimming pool and exploring the skate area, which added an extra element of fun to our trip. Bukubaki offered the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation.

The final leg of our journey took us to the Alentejo region, where we were eager to witness the breathtaking night sky over Alqueva, the world’s first Starlight Tourism Destination. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the night we spent stargazing—seeing the Milky Way stretch across the sky in such clarity was a magical experience that we’ll treasure forever.

We stayed at the charming Viva Farm House near Monsaraz, a place that truly exceeded our expectations. The personnel were thoughtful and kind, with a genuine warmth and welcoming spirit that made us feel right at home. The breakfast here was one of the best I’ve ever had, featuring fresh, local ingredients that made every morning a delight.

The spaces at Viva Farm House were beautifully curated, with attention to detail evident in every corner. I especially enjoyed exploring their bookshelf, which was perfectly aligned with my interests—finding a good book to unwind with was such a treat. From the thoughtfully designed interiors to the serene surroundings, Viva Farm House offered a tranquil retreat that was both inspiring and rejuvenating.

This trip was not just a beautiful escape, but also a reminder of how important it is to create meaningful experiences with our children.
